Bryan Performs Solo this Friday the 11th, and Progressive Dementia Returns to Manhattan As Part of Copycat Series on July 16th - July 8, 2008
Hey there it's Bryan, just wanted to invite you out to see me play an acoustic set this Friday at the Blue Room at AJ's in Secaucus, NJ. For details just click the calendar link to your left. I've been writing some new material I'll be performing, and it's always an eclectic night of cool performers with Dan at the Blue Room. Besides, if you get bored, the strip club is right next door. If you care about these things.
Now hey, check out our press release for the 16th!
Progressive Dementia will debut a new rhythm section, new covers and a new original song at 10 PM on Wednesday, July 16 at Otto's Shrunken Head in Manhattan, as part of the Copycat series. Copycat is a mostly cover DJ night, featuring recordings of cover songs, and live bands playing covers as half of their sets. Each member of the band chose a song they've always wanted to do, so in addition to original songs about Cameltoe, life in Siberia and John Sununu, the band will perform covers by Devo, Duran Duran, Kiss and Pete Townshend.
Progressive Dementia mixes elements of pop, jazz, progressive rock, improvisation, heavy metal and stand-up comedy to create a show that is both musically impressive, and fun. “Musicianship has gotten a bad rap in some ways” says lead singer Bryan Zeigler, “as many people think progressive music has to be serious and self-indulgent. We want to make music that is good for you and fun. Like a porn star performing a prostate exam.”
The band's debut album Muffin Puppet mixes influences as diverse as Frank Zappa, Ravi Shankar, Phish, King Crimson, Dave Brubeck and They Might be Giants into a surprisingly palatable stew. It is available at their shows, and online at www.ProgressiveDementia.com, or www.myspace.com/ProgressiveDementia.
